Error correction, and why it matters

A QR code stores extra copies of its data so it still scans when part of it is dirty, torn, or covered by a logo. The level sets how much damage it can take. The highest level recovers a code even with about 30% of it missing, but it holds less data, so the code looks denser. For a clean screen or a fresh print, Medium is a good default. Use a higher level for a code that will be printed small or placed where it may get scuffed.

Save PNG for a ready-to-use image that drops into a document, a slide, or a chat. Save SVG when you need to print the code large or resize it, because an SVG stays sharp at any size. A QR code has no maximum print size; bigger is easier to scan from far away.
