What the tool does
Give it the times you clock in and clock out and the length of your break, and it works out the hours between times. It shows the result two ways: as hours and minutes, and as decimal hours, which is the figure most timesheets and payroll systems want.
Overnight shifts
If the end time is earlier than the start time, the tool treats the shift as running past midnight and adds the extra day for you. So a shift from 22:00 to 06:00 counts as eight hours before any break, not a negative number. Remember the break box: with the default 30 minute break the same shift shows 7h 30m.
Minutes as decimal hours
Payroll usually wants decimal hours, where 30 minutes is 0.5, not 0.30. Here is the quick conversion for common breaks and part-hours.

FAQ
How do I calculate hours between two times?
Type the start and end time and the tool shows the hours between them. Add a break to take it off the total, the way a time card works.
Does it handle a night shift?
Yes. When the end time is before the start time, the shift is counted as going past midnight, so work hours come out right.
Why show decimal hours?
Timesheets and payroll add up decimal hours, where 45 minutes is 0.75. The tool gives both that and the plain hours and minutes.
Can I use it as a time card?
